One of the biggest parts of Microsoft’s keynote back in Barcelona, during Mobile World Congress, was the fact that Windows Phone 7 Series would finally do what everyone had been wishing for: integrate Xbox LIVE. They did show a couple screens of the hubs and subsequent tiles, and what it would all look like by the time this holiday season rolls around, but we were missing the most important part. We needed to see it in action. Well, ladies and gentlemen, that time has come. But, what we’ve been presented with has taken things to a whole new level …

Hulu has lost Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” and “Colbert Report” in a dispute with the network over almighty advertising revenue — but the real implications could be far more reaching than a loss of popular content. Hulu’s days as a destination for free online video may be numbered.
The once-groundbreaking video-on-demand website may not be able to run on pre-roll ads alone, which don’t generate as much revenue as broadcast commercials. And the obvious alternative — charging subscription or pay-per-view fees to viewers — is likely to simply drive them back to live TV or DVR use …

Much of the wonders of modern technology afford us greater control over our lives or so it would seem. Vehicle tracking is one example where technology is giving greater control to some and taking away freedom for others.
Businesses that run fleets of vehicles are increasingly using vehicle tracking systems to gain greater control over their fleets of vehicles and more importantly the people drive them. This does have its positives for the workers but it also infringes on privacy.
That said vehicle tracking is here to stay and it is something that we will have to learn to live with and tracking you while you are working is not that much of an infringement on your privacy. But what is an infringement on your privacy is if governments start using vehicle tracking to keep tabs on everyone in a vehicle. This is not something that will happen soon, but it is a possibility in the future. It will enable them to catch villains more easily and stop people from avoiding car tax and MOTs etc. But the problem is where does it stop.
Another use for GPS tracking is to lower insurance premiums. Stolen vehicle tracking is now being fitted on vehicles for personal use. This increases your chances of recovering the vehicle if it is burgled.
