Gladinet Inc. of the US is one of the pioneers in developing a system so that cloud services would integrate directly to a desktop PCs operating system instead of going through a web browser. In fact, the browser may become obsolete as the Web 3.0 movement develops further and becomes more complex.
The goal of having a virtual internet PC came about with the launch of the Gladinet Cloud Desktop in May 2009. This product delivers web services to the desktop, as opposed to the web contents provided by a browser. There are several advantages to the Gladinet product, including better usability because it is possible to directly use cloud applications to open local files as well as share files and services through cloud file type association. Numerous other features include allowing backup of Google Docs program files to cloud storage by using the convenient controls on the Gladinet side panel, online backups to a redundant array of cloud storage, profile encryption, task scheduling for delete / upload / download, technology for accelerating uploads and downloads, etc.
Google Docs is based on cloud computing and provides real time collaboration among both non users and users to edit various kinds of documents at the same time. Since this is a free service provided by Google and also because accessing and sharing is so much easier, Google Docs popularity is growing by the day. Since Gladinet Cloud Desktop provides integration services among supported providers including Google Docs as well as Picasa, Amazon S3, and WebDav, the products recognition and use is surely going to hit the roof!
